Central Electric Cooperative hosted its 20th Annual Meeting on September 29, 2020 in a “drive-through” format amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Members in attendance pulled into the warehouse, presented their notice, and were given the meeting information and voting ballot. They pulled through the building and dropped off their checked ballot for they exited. No formal meal or presentation was given. However, a full video report on cooperative 2019 business can be found on our website.

Five-hundred four members attended along with numerous other guests and “furry friends” along for the ride. Most unique vehicles to pull through included a livestock trailer with a bull, vacuum service truck for portable toilets, a boat, and Tesla electric vehicle.

The vote to amend the Bylaws as proposed passed. A full description of Bylaws amendments can be viewed on our website. Members also passed to waive a formal reading of the meeting notice and previous meeting minutes, as they were provided in the Annual Report and handed out at the meeting.

All registered members received a $30 bill credit applied to their account. Harvey Smith of Mitchell, SD won the Grand Prize drawn at random for a $100 bill credit.

Central Electric thanks its members for a successful meeting and overwhelming attendance. The cooperative expects that the pandemic will also impact how we conduct future meetings and will continue to communicate those changes to the membership.
