Mitchell, S.D. – Strong winds during Tuesday’s storms caused numerous power outages for Central Electric Cooperative members. Areas most affected included portions of Hanson, Miner and Sanborn Counties.

Approximately 400 members were without electric service on Tuesday afternoon, with Miner County members experiencing the largest number of outages on Central Electric’s lines. As of 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, approximately 150 meters remained without power. Crews continued working into the night to restore as many services as possible.

Central Electric urges the public to stay away from downed power lines to prevent electrocution. Please call 605-996-7516 or 800-477-2892 day or night to report an outage or downed power line.
