Central Electric Cooperative hosted an open house on June 22, inviting members and the public to view the new Howard Service Center on the west edge of town.
The cooperative’s previous location on Highway 34 had served employees since the early 1950s and was purchased by Kingbrook Rural Water. Although an addition was built onto the prior facility in 2008, continued growth in equipment size and operational needs made a new building necessary.
The cooperative partnered with Howard Industries to secure the land for the project, which was purchased as part of Central Electric’s long-term plan to modernize its facilities. The new building and pole yard provide additional space to accommodate today’s larger trucks and equipment. The upgraded facility also offers improved work and storage space, allowing employees to respond to outages and complete day-to-day operations more safely and effectively.
The Howard location is staffed by Foreman Landon Laible and Journeyman Lineworker Davis Mathison. This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to providing reliable electric service while supporting the community.
