Children’s Care Corner Receives Operation Round-Up® Grant

(Howard, SD) —Children’s Care Corner in Howard received a grant of $1,000 from the Central Electric Operation Round-Up® program to help purchase security cameras. The cameras were recently installed and a check was presented to the organization.

Children’s Care Corner board vice chair Megan Gassman said the addition of cameras was a proactive step intended to reassure families and daycare staff. “This allowed us to have an additional layer of security for kids, parents and staff by ensuring we have visibility into the facility,” Gassman said.

Bernetta Burghardt of rural Fedora is a board member at Central Electric. She said it’s encouraging to see Children’s Care Corner adapting to meet today’s standards. “I think the daycare is a vital resource for the Howard community, and I’m glad we can support it,” Burghardt said. “It’s good for working parents.”

The daycare provides services for approximately 40 children. Operation Round-Up® grant funds covered a portion of the $4,130 project. Children’s Care Corner has received $3,000 in Operation Round-Up® grant funds since 2017 to help fund facility improvements.
