Central Electric Cooperative is awarding $3,000 in scholarships to area students. The scholarships are funded by Central Electric, Basin Electric Power Cooperative and the family of the late Jay Headley of White Lake. 

Central Electric offers two $500 scholarships for cooperative members or their dependent children attending Mitchell Technical College (MTC). Students apply through the school. Recipients of the scholarship are electrical utilities and substation technology student Brandon Jensen of Chamberlain, son of Jeff and Penny Jensen, and ag business student Kaylee White of Woonsocket, daughter of Jason and Bobbi White. 

Basin Electric, a cooperative power supplier headquartered in North Dakota, awards a $1,000 scholarship to an outstanding student in Central Electric's service area. Brady Larson of Letcher, son of Steve & Roxann Larson, will receive the Basin Electric Power Cooperative Scholarship. Brady is a senior at Sanborn Central and plans to study Wi-Fi broadband technology or ag business at MTC. 

James and Cristine Headley of White Lake established the Jay Headley Memorial Scholarship in 2003 in memory of their beloved son. Eligible students should be pursuing a bachelor's degree in an agriculture-related field. Cally Faulhaber of Plankinton, daughter of Chuck and Sue Faulhaber, will be awarded the $1,000 Jay Headley Memorial Scholarship. Cally plans to study agricultural education at South Dakota State University.
